    Course Description
    This course is designed to enhance the skills of newly trained and seasoned negotiators. An interactive and scenario based training will look at reviewing key elements and skills of the negotiator and the negotiating team. At the same time, advance techniques will be taught with a focus on integration of current practices. This course is designed to provide students with individual feedback that can enhance performance.

    Course Prerequisite
    Basic course in crisis and hostage negotiations is required.

    • Review of active listening skills and practice
    • Advance communication skills
    • Leading issues in today's crisis negotiations
    • Personality types and motivation of a suspect
    • Suicide intervention
    • Advance negotiation team dynamics
    • Enhance information flow
    • Advance bargaining models
    • Overview of the Tactical Operations and integration
    • Cultural considerations during hostage negotiations
    • What happens when you need to break the rules?

    Role-playing specific to above objectives

    Training Method
    Training will use lecture, discussion, videos tapes, incident review, and role playing with class members and professional actors. Some of the videos to be used are of recent interviews with actual negotiations and interviews of offenders that are incarcerated for their hostage taking situations. Class size will be kept to a minimum size to enhance the trainee experience. Preferred number: 15 to 18 participants.

    The Basic Tactical Officer Course is designed for the entry level or newly appointed tactical officer and focuses on the basics of working in the team environment, concentrating on tactical team skills, operations and concepts. The course consists of in-class instruction followed by demonstration and hands-on operation of all of the concepts to assist in the learning process and reinforce the tactics and techniques learned. Operators will participate in team building activities, field operations, physical fitness training and live fire exercises as well as final practical exercises utilizing all of their acquired tactical skills.

    The course will be physically demanding and mentally challenging with extended hours and stress induced training situations. We utilize a high instructor to student ratio with exceptional instructors drawn from the special operations community, having extensive real world military and police operations experience. Operators who successfully complete this course will be tactical team entry level trained and qualified.

    Advanced Swat / HRT Course | Albert Lea, Minnesota | August 1-2, 2012

    The Advanced Tactical Officer Course is designed for the experienced or veteran tactical operator with prior training in basic swat tactics. The course builds on the team concepts from most basic tactical courses while working on operations and problem solving in the increasingly difficult tactical environment. Operators will concentrate on upper level team skills, operations and concepts that focus on alternate entry methods, use of the tactical submachine gun or rifle, chemical munitions, diversion and distraction devices, advanced firearms skills, movement and entry and advanced team takedown methods. The course consists of limited in-class instruction followed by demonstration and extensive hands-on application and operation in the field environment. The course will be physically demanding and mentally challenging with extended day and low light operations. Operators who successfully complete this course will be advanced tactical team entry level trained and qualified.

    2 Day Tactical Team Leaders Course | Henn. Tech. | August 27-28, 2012

    This is an intensive course designed for the current or future Tactical Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader. Course covers the role of the Team Leader, how to develop team SOP's, training and documentation, funding the team, training scenario development and training safety. Participants will spend classroom time discussing real life scenarios and incidents along with participation in a live table top exercise involving team members and scenario based operations.

    2 Day I/S/R in Tactical Ops. | Henn. Tech | 2 Day | October, 2012

    This is the first of a kind course in the series of special operations tactical courses that takes the operator out of the reactive mode of operation and steps into an aggressive and proactive role of higher level operational preparation. Operators will experience concepts that are cutting edge with outside the box thinking that can be applicable to multiple areas of Law Enforcement and Tactical Operations. Operators who participate in this course will spend minimal classroom time and work plain clothes on practical field operations exercises over the two day course. Course days will be extended due to the depth of the information and practical exercise operations. The course is RESTRICTED and limited to active duty Sworn Tactical personnel currently assigned to a special operations unit with no exceptions. This course is instructed by Special Operations personnel with Theater wide training and experience.
